Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is about recognising the skills and knowledge that you have already gained through work and life experiences. It is an alternate way to obtain a nationally recognised qualification without the need to undertake a full course!
How are my skills assessed?
Your skills, knowledge and experience are assessed against the industry standard (units of competency) from your chosen qualification. Evidence is collected in a variety of forms which may include:
- Third Party Reports/Testimonials
- Knowledge Tests
- Practical Task Demonstration
- Video/Photo Samples of Work Undertaken
Your assessor will review all of the evidence throughout the process and match it against the criteria of each unit, before making a judgement on your competency.
What qualifications can I RPL?
All qualifications at Krause Health and Safety can be completed through RPL including:
- BSB30415 Certificate III in Business Administration
- BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety
- BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management
- BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety
- CPC10111 Certificate I in Construction
- CPC30211 Certificate III in Carpentry
Are there any fees for RPL?
Yes, all of our qualifications attract fees. However, fees associated with RPL are less than the full cost of the course, making it a more affordable option. Not only that, the RPL process may take you less time to gain your qualification than completing it via a formal learning and assessment pathway.
Before commencing assessment of your RPL application, a non-refundable administration fee of $100 is required. This covers the cost of one of our qualified industry assessors to undertake an initial discussion with the candidate to decide whether RPL is right for them. This is known as a Competency Conversation.
